Randy Matthews

From the culturally rich town of Port aux Basques, Newfoundland, Randy Matthews has lived and breathed music from an early age. He began writing songs at 15, recording two albums as a teenager and laying the groundwork for a lifelong passion. After exploring other paths in adulthood, Randy returned to his musical roots with renewed focus, captivating audiences through heartfelt songwriting, a soulful voice, and a commanding stage presence.

Drawing inspiration from icons like Johnny Cash, Waylon Jennings, and Chris Stapleton, Randy has built a loyal following across Newfoundland and beyond. His authentic, roots-driven sound resonates just as powerfully in intimate listening rooms as it does on festival stages.

A two-time MusicNL nominee for Country Artist of the Year (2022 and 2023), Randy has toured extensively with NL Promotions on province-wide productions including Nashville 80’s, Nashville 90’s, NLP 10th Anniversary Show, A Legendary Christmas, A Grand Ol’ Christmas (Volumes 1, 2 & 3), and American Outlaws: A Tribute to the Highwaymen.

As a solo producer and headliner, Randy has also found major success with A Tribute to Chris Stapleton, selling out two nights at The Majestic Theatre in St. John’s on May 23 and 24. The show returns by popular demand on May 21 and 22, 2026. In January 2026, he also appeared in Still Yours: Greatest Country Love Songs, a Majestic Theatre production featuring three performances.

Recent highlights include performances at Cavendish Beach Music Festival (2024) and Jigs & Wheels in Corner Brook (2024 and 2025). Whether performing his original music or paying tribute to the artists who shaped him, Randy Matthews continues to build a career defined by authenticity, passion, and a strong connection with audiences.
